Here on earth we hear of catastrophes caused by “acts of God”–earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires. And you wonder, where can I live to be safe from all that.

The answer?

Nowhere.

Natural disasters happen all over. No one place is safe. Just this past week a building behind my parents house was struck by lightening and burned to the ground. In a matter of minutes. My father heard the big boom, looked out a side window and saw smoke rolling by. He went to a rear window and saw the building engulfed. A few feet forward and it could have been my parents’ house burned to the ground. This building used to be my “clubhouse”. Daddy built it when my sister and I were young. I enjoyed playing in that building. Now it is gone–by an “act of God”.

Again, I ask, Where can you live to be safe from harm?

Safe in the arms of Jesus. God Himself.

Psalm 107:28-30 (New International Version)

28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.

29 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.

30 They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.

Luke 8:24-26 (New International Version)

24The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25“Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.
In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
